The Shrine watches over a neighborhood

It is said that this shrine was built by the warlord, Sakanoue-no Tamuramaro. When he attacked eastern Japan in 800's, he prayed to Mt. Fuji and his wish was fulfilled. He built this shrine as a gratitude to God. A horseback archery festival (Yabusame) is held every September 19th.
