The sacred gateway to the Mt. Fuji

The kana-dorii gate was built as a welcome sign for climbers and also as the boundary between the normal world and the sacred world of Mt. Fuji. Although it's now easy to pass through by car, the gate was considered a sacred object to pass into Mt. Fuji's spiritual world in old days.
